I am an Assistant Professor in the School Psychology Program at Eastern Kentucky University. I have a Ph.D. in School Psychology from Illinois State University (2001). In addition, I am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP), certified school psychologist and a licensed psychologist.  Outside of EKU, I have had several years experience working as a school psychologist in the schools and in private practice.

I teach a range of classes at EKU with a primary emphasis in child and adolescent development and school psychology. These course include lifespan development, adolescence, child development and introduction to school psychology. In addition, I supervise practicum, internship, and cases in the psychology department's clinic.

I have significant experience with bullying interventions in schools at all age levels and am particularly interested in cyberbullying. I have a range of research interests that have primarily settled on the adolescent population and their use of technology. I n addition, I have been exploring issues effecting learning, executive functioning, and issues of training in school psychology. In addition, I am a Associate Editor of the journal School Psychology Forum

I am very active in various professional organizations. I have been the webmaster for the National Association of School Psychologist (NASP) for the past several years. I was recognized for my contributions in 2011 with the reception of the NASP Presidential Award. In addition, I have been President of the Kentucky Association of Psychology in the Schools (KAPS) and the Coordinator of Online Communication.

Professional Interests

My research focus is on cyberbullying and adolescent development issues. I also research professional issues in the field of school psychology particularly in regards to the use of technology in the field.
